From Classic Blockout Rollers to Custom Double Roller Blinds
Blockout blinds are one of the most popular window coverings in Australian homes, and for good reason. The fabric is manufactured with an opaque backing that completely stops UV rays and visible light from passing through, giving you a true darkened room day or night.
Our blockout roller blinds are available in a wide range of fabrics and colours. Most blockout fabric can be made in widths up to 3000mm wide and 3000mm high and can also be linked together. There are even some fabrics that span 3200mm wide, making them suitable for almost any window or sliding door in your home.
Want the versatility of a blockout and sunscreen blind on the same window? Our custom double roller blind system lets you have both on the same bracket. Pull down the sunscreen during the day to reduce glare while keeping your view, and the blockout at night for total darkness and privacy. It is one of the most popular configurations we install for bedrooms and street-facing living areas across the Illawarra.
Blockout fabric is also available across a range of other blind styles including cellular and pleated blinds, roman blinds and vertical blinds. Curtains in blockout fabric are also a popular choice, often used alongside a roller blind for a layered look.

Your Questions, Answered
-
A blockout blind is a window covering made from an opaque fabric with a solid acrylic backing that completely stops UV rays and visible light from passing through the material. Unlike light-filtering blinds that soften sunlight, blockout blinds plunge a room into true darkness when fully closed. They are ideal for bedrooms, nurseries, home theatres and anyone who needs to sleep during daylight hours.
-
The blockout fabric itself stops 100% of UV rays and visible light. However, standard inside-mounted roller blinds may allow a small amount of light to bleed around the edges. To achieve a complete blockout effect, we recommend face-mounting the blind outside the window frame to allow for overlap on all sides. Our team will advise the best installation approach during your free measure and quote.
-
The main difference is the amount of light they allow through the fabric. Light-filtering blinds soften harsh sunlight and provide daytime privacy but still allow a warm glow into the room. Blockout blinds feature a solid acrylic backing that completely stops light from passing through the material. You can explore our full range of interior blinds to compare options.

A double roller blind is two separate roller blinds mounted on the same window bracket - a blockout roller blind and a sunscreen roller blind. It gives you the flexibility to use the sunscreen blind during the day for glare control while keeping your view, and pull down the blockout at night for full privacy and complete darkness. It is one of the most popular configurations we install for bedrooms and living rooms across Wollongong and the Illawarra.

Yes. Motorised blockout blinds are available in two configurations: hardwired with RTS remote control, or lithium battery-operated. The battery can be charged once per year based on daily usage. Motorised blinds can also be controlled via mobile phone, tablet or voice control over wi-fi. We partner with Somfy, Australia's leading motorisation specialists. Motorisation is particularly useful for large or heavy blockout blinds, hard-to-reach windows and homes with young children and pets.

Our blockout roller blinds are available up to 3000mm wide and 3000mm high. Some fabrics span up to 3200mm wide. For wider openings, multiple roller blinds can be linked together for a seamless finish. Every blind is custom made to your exact window measurements.
